often a mid year feast is held on July 25th
under the guise of ~A Christmas in July~
This year my mum has announced
with our European heritage in mind (!?!)
that we will be engaging in one such celebration...
So being on our mid year school holidays at the moment
and having the extra time to indulge in a little crafty fun
i picked up the other day (for a $1) at the local op shop
a Country Threads magazine, Christmas special issue
for a little Chrissy inspiration...
and inside i found a pattern and instructions
for some wonderful handcrafted felted Chrissy stockings
So Easy Peasy! Just go hunting for a man's pure woolen jumper
(i picked one up from the op shop for $6.50)
pop it in the washing machine with hot water & wool wash
put the machine on agitate and "Bob's ya Uncle" ...
Dry in the dryer for extra felting if needed (i didn't)
And then when dry you will find that you have some simple handcrafted felt!
So then from the sleeve/s and main body of the jumper...
using the sleeve cuff and ribbing at the neck/bottom of jumper,
for the top of your stocking, just cut and sew and voila!
Beautiful Handcrafted Christmas Stockings...
i added some felt flowers and buttons for decoration
and the little hanging tabs are simply cut from the off cuts
Aren't they great! ...and they are tOO easy!

For my part, I always thought it sucked the Xmas below the equator falls in the summertime because of all the holiday's wintry accouterments. Happy Christmas in July to you too!
