a walk with Joe Black

i once walked with Death
and nobody knew
i felt his breath on my cheek
like a Lovers woo

His voice was so gentle
and his scent like wine
so i took his hand
it was so Divine

He spoke softly in my ear
that there was nothing to fear
and like a butterfly kiss
He whispered not to resist

And so the Gift i have now
in my deepest Heart
is that Death is my Love
and not the scariest part

*When i was giving birth to my youngest (and 3rd) child, i felt ~Death~ step close to me... My dear doctor laughed at the time, but being a man of experience quickly drew my baby from my body... Just as i was moving into a bright and beautiful light ...and with the flash of sudden pain, i "came back"... i still remember Death's soft whispers in my ear to just let go... to fall back, softly, into my head, where He would catch me... But with the weight of my new born on my belly i came back to this place of forgetting, and Living...

i never spoke about it again until years later as a 40th birthday gift, my best friend sent me to my first Clairvoyant... and she reminded me of this moment, she who didn't know, spoke to me of the choice i had made between this life, and the next...
And so i have come to realize that Death will visit me, every now and again, to whisper softly in my ear and that it be My choice when i whisper back to Him ~Yes~

(Ps) and just in case you were wondering, my 3rd birthing was drugless!

My mother had pernicious vomiting during her pregnancy with me and dropped to 80lbs. and died. She then had a classic "near death experience", leaving her body and looking down on the doctors working to revive her.

However we both survived. She is now 90 and has never feared death since.

I'm glad you survived.

Well, there you go, that must have been the problem. No drugs, no reality--that's what I always say.

Oh my. I'm glad you decided to give him a rain check. Having faced Death before makes him just a little less frightening, and that is a great release. Yes, when he comes, it will be on your terms.

I used to fear death. But no longer; it's just part of life.

When the nazi bombs rained down on Croydon we feared the worst every time the earth shook and the explosions shattered our windows.

My greatest fear now is being helplessly crippled in mind and/or body. Hopefully that fear will pass with time. Time heals everything.

Wow, that sounds like a powerful feeling. It's good to know Death's touch, without fear, I think. After all, Death is the price of living.

What lovely and powerful words in this post. Death scares me. I have been in very close contact with it a few times now (watching it take away someone in my arms)and am really trying to understand that the best way forward is with acceptance..... and gratitude for the life we have been lucky enough to experience. Each and every breath we take is a gift:)
