A photo of a melting glacier dubbed "Mother Nature in Tears" has been seized by environmentalists as the latest sombre reminder of the effects of climate change.
Environmental lecturer Michael Nolan captured the image on a trip to Norway in July while he was observing the ice-shelf, Austfonna, which is shrinking by almost 50m each year.
"This is how one would imagine mother nature would express her sentiments about our inability to reduce global warming," Mr Nolan said.

Remarkable and very sad. I know how she feels...
Similar to my word verification would think- "chity"
this is a huge shame for all of us Nolly .
but who do you know that are realy concerned and vailable to have a real commitment to make some diference ?
i am for this reason and for the animal rights , a vegetarian sinse 1995 , and a vegan for the last 2 years .
here in Brasil , they destroy the forest in scary proportions just for to be able to produce more meet . and all this meet will be exported to USA and Europe. sad , if people stoped with their "adictions" of the every day life , it all would stop . but who wants to do that ?
Nollyposh and Caio,
I have stopped eating meat for a couple of years now, except occasionally. Too many people in the world and we all have to be fed. The picture of mother nature is very sad. Keep planting trees!
Sandi X:-)
Steven, No probs actually my cousin sent it to me by email, amazing isn't it!
Barry (Did i eva tell you i am always nearly calling you Bazza... Now if you were an Aussy boy... X;-)
Caio, So fabulous to hear that you are all those wonderful things! X:-) i too am vegetarian, more vegan than veg but i include eggs and fish in my diet, as my eldest is severely allergic to beans, legumes & seeds and so we do not have these foods in the house X:-(
...i guess if we just keep talking about what we believe in and 'walking our talk' by example may we lead X:-)
Lindie Loo i am so glad to hear that as that means Barry too is in good health conscious hands... and i am all for more trees even though we suffer in my area big bushfires at times, perhaps we need to plant more forests and then move out! (And let Mother Nature do her thing!) <3
That is amazing ...
