i went to the library a few weeks ago and asked 'The Universe' for a bOOk...
i do this a lot... i discovered this 'magic' after the death of my father, when l began my 'search for myself'... it was the most mAgiCaL during my recovery from cancer...
and 'The Universe' has NEVER failed me...
i love this kind of mAgIc and have great faith in it...
Perhaps i always have for when i step back into my childhood times, i am immediately immersed in books and long walks and long contemplation...
Quiet, meditative, contemplation spirited by my reading...
This book is called the "Onion Girl" (You can click on the pic to go to Charles De Lints site)...
and it's a wonderful read about hardship, heart ache and finding yourself through the mAgIc of aRt and the bELiEf that the mAgIc is always around us... in the corner of our eyes...
Just waiting for us to notice...
i believe it's about reaching into your soul and discovering a whole 'Universe' within...
it's what i do... so i know it to be true...
i believe...
~For all those who against all odds-Made the right choice~ Charles De Lint
*Quotes from Onion Girl:
"Once upon a time there was a little girl who wished she could be anywhere else in all the wide world except for where she was. Or more preferably still, she wished she could find some way to cross over into whatever worlds might lie beyond this one, those wonderful worlds that she read about in stories. She would tap at the back of closets and always look very carefully down rabbit holes. She would rub every old lamp that she came across and wish on any and everything..."
"It takes a certain innocence of heart to remain open to the Otherworld, to the things that stray out of those Lands that lie beyond The Fields We Know"
"All those folk tales about faerie fading away because we stopped believing in them"
"Magic lies in between things, between the day and night, between yellow and blue, between any two things"
"The fact is that we're all connected. Everything has a spirit and it's all connected. If you think about that, if you live your life by it, then you're less likely to cause any hurt. It's like how our bodies go back into the ground when we die, so that connects us to the earth. If you dump trash, you're dumping it on your ancestors. Or to bring it to it's simplest level: treat everything and everybody the way you want to be treated, because when you hurt someone you're only hurting yourself- Because we're all connected"
"With every life taken, we're all diminished. That's something too many people don't get. Yeah we've got to stop violence and killing-but you're only adding to the problem when the way you solve it is by more of the same"
*Jilly talking about her art... "The faerie represent the beauty we don't see, or even choose to
ignore. That's why l paint them in junkyards, or fluttering around a sleeping wino. No place or person is immune to spirit. Look hard enough and everything has a story. Everybody is important... So faerie aren't real? (Smiles) I never said that."

Hey folks X:-) Can anyone tell me how to insert a pic into text? Pleeeease?... I always get the pics just 'at the top' of my text and can't figure out how to have pics throughout my writing, to break it up a bit? THANKS chickies XoX
I cut and paste them from the top where they initially go, to where I want them. Loved your post today. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. Hoping things just chill a little. Thoughts are crazy in my head. Need some quiet time.
Love you.
Hi Vicki!!! When you upload your picture it says "choose a layout". Choose "none". Then you can move the photo around where ever you wish!! Or..after you upload all the photos and they are at the top..then you just write your text and click on the photos and move them around. If you choose none for the layout you can move them in any direction from side to side, but if you choose center, right, or left, they will always stay on that side no matter where you move them up and down. Am I making sense?
Love you tons!
Peace & Love.
Hey that is two. You know the thing of when you hear a message 3 times to pay attention?
I am looking forward to your story of down the rabbit hole. I have never seen a fairy or an angel, but I feel them. I sometimes wish I would see one.
Thanks chickies X:-D
DeeDee, i say 3 times... to be sure to be sure... You know like "Are you sure???" X;-)
I read it years ago and liked it very much, except I was disturbed by a non-Native people writing about Native peoples in a fictitious way. I am always leery of that stuff because it puts out false information and some people then think we are all "magic" and "prancing through the woods" and stuff like that. I know it is a faery story but you would be surprised what some of my students will come up to me with and ask if such-and-such is real because they read it in some book somewhere. Sometimes I just want to look at them and say, "Are you kidding me?" "Do you really think we do that?" "And no that is a load of crap!" So be careful with this book about some of the fictitious the author comes up with...don't believe any of it...that's all I am saying. That is my Indian Wisdom for the day.
Ahh but Renee, i do bEliEve in ~magic~ remembering that "magic" is just a label and is to be found within the eyes of the beholder ...and as with all things the "truth" of any experience is to be found within each of our own hearts... Let me tell you a story...
Love book talk! If you like fantasy/supernatural stuff, you might enjoy the Twilight series. Also, I just finished Meyer's The Host, which is quite the story as well. I am eager to know what people think about both!
Cheers and Happy Reading!
Thanks for that happygirl X:-)
