i have this thing...

i have this ~thing~ about old and unloved dollies...
those poor little darlings outgrown by their playmates
and long ago left for the dusty shelves of ~oP sHoPs~
and old broken boxes at garage sales...

They call to me sometimes
in torn dirty dresses
with cloudy colored eyes...
they seem to ask me for a second chance

and so i find them
in all different arrays
and bring them home
where they sit expectantly
~waiting~

for their ~butterfly wings~

This first gal (left, above) was a little boy in overalls
at a garage sale...
But what 'they' didn't know that she was really just a tom boy
who was just waiting for the chance
to show her true heart...
and her little friend always wanted to join the circus
and so when i came across an old raggy fabric clown
well then the transformation was complete!

This little baby (below) was sad with no clothes
but is wasn't really having no clothes that made her teary
but that she still had such a big capacity to ~love~
and no one could see her heart...
So a little paint later and they can now!
(ps) she's still waiting for her faerie wings

These other two little dears, are little china dolls
you know the kind all dressed up in vintage clothing
Well they just needed a change they told me...
and so now they just await their wings
and maybe a ~tutu~ or two perhaps?

AND the *fabric faerie* popped by my house last night
(disguised as my lovely neighbor 'out back'... the one with the chooks)
She is a fabulous seamstress (and so much more!)
Busying herself with some ~spring cleaning~
...LUCKY ME!!!
(though where i am to store it all!?!)

What a wonderful idea. Please show us whenever you bring a doll back to happiness.

My Nana did this same thing Vicki!! She rescued any doll she came across, even a couple at the rubbish dump, sitting on top of the refuse. She could not walk past them. She was a wonderful seamstress and made the most beautiful clothes for them. She would even take them to the dolls hospital to have hair fixed, eyes lashes fixed, touch up painting done to the faces etc..or even replace broken or missing body parts!!!
I will have to take some photos of a couple of ones that I have and show you :)
You would have gotten on very well with my Nan :)
