There is nothing like returning
to a place that remains unchanged
to find the ways in which
you yourself have altered.
to a place that remains unchanged
to find the ways in which
you yourself have altered.
- Nelson Mandela-
i found this quote this morning on this lovely bloggy X:-)
...So synchronistic after yesterday's visit to my past...
The funeral i went to was that of a girl whom i worked with
when i was in my twenties...
we were all in our early twenties then
all footloose and fancy free
in every respect of the word...
such ~carefree~ times
when we all felt, that we would all live
~forever~
But what struck me the most about yesterday was...
(although some of us had not crossed paths for a lifetime)
was the tight little group of friends that had remained essentially
~unchanged~
it was like stepping through the veil of time
back to the past
and i had to pinch myself
just to check
that i wasn't a part of a
~dream scape~
and as i stood and watched
where i had come from...
to where i stood now...
i considered the ~ways in which i have altered~
the ways in which i have grown
and although i felt a tug on my heart
for those simpler times
i also felt a gratefulness
and i whispered a prayer of ~gratitude~
for the ~people~
for the ~journey~
...and the ~person~ i have now become
Namaste my dear Sue
~Namaste~
...and ~Thankyou~ for this beautiful gift

I am so sorry for your loss. It is hard to lose one who has been a part of our lives - no matter at what juncture we knew them.

All is well Renee Thankyou for asking x
My wife and I had a similar experience about ten years ago when we returned to a small village where we had lived for a decade back in the seventies.
Your children were now grown with children of their own. But the town was unchanged and the pace of life went on just as before.
It was discovering how we had changed and that we no longer fit, that surprised us the most.
Interestingly the WV for this post is an actual word, "plump" . Yes we had put on a little weight. How does Blogger know?
