Road maps

This is a little pic of my eldest's latest studio art project (cd cover)...
the idea was to use an old Melways (road map book)
to say something about yourself...

Hers was all about the roads of life
and the choices one needs to make...

That's her on the cover
with her changed hazel eye/s
to the blue of mine...

and it was this small action particularly
that caused me to ponder
(as my children often do)
upon the moments of my youth

i could feel amongst her words and images
the struggling teenager...
the confusion and the dreams
that one has...
when one is young

and it took me back
to half remembered hopes and dreams of my own
and thoughts about how
some of these pockets in my life

are still empty...

It is these kind of thoughts
and ponderings...
that cause me to spend time
every now and again
~talking~
to my children of such things...

About how it is really important to have ~dreams~
but how it is more important
to take ~steps~ towards them...

and of how one should never wander
for too long...
in the darker lane ways
and side streets
as mysterious and exciting
as they can sometimes seem to be

Should it take you to a place
where you might get ~lost~
and forget
how to

~live~

Great piece of art, a beautiful baby and mommy and some great advice.

If only they'd listen...I hope she listens.

How great would it be if my mom or dad had spoken to me about such things. They are lucky and maybe a pocket can be filled with that knowledge and contribution to the WORLD.

It's so great to see this picture of you.
