mOOn cycles and mE

Last night was a fuLL mOOn...
and not just the usual lunar scape for my heart to skip over
and contemplate, as is so often my practice
but breathtakingly on this late Winter's eve
my Lunar Love came with a ~Halo~

and the Angels sighhhh...ed

So magically did it stir my soul
that i guiltily nudged (my -typically- not yet asleep) son
(the 'gadget' guru) from his warm bed clothes
to help me attempt to capture the magic...

We did our utmost, including me lying flat out in the icy winters night
on the very chiLLy ground, trying not to move the camera with shaking hands
to eventually capture this little shot (above)

sighhh...

We then, of course, promptly Google-d it
and found a better one on the net (see below)

But to be there last night
in that ~Moonlight Halo~
was a magical, mystical thing
For a ~Full Moon~ to me is about
~completion~
of the cycles of our lives

For me it is about recognizing
that it is time to let go...

of experiences played out

a time of endings
a time of new beginnings...

And as i gazed at this ~Gift to my Spirit~
my heart spoke to me that it was

~Time~

Time to let go of the fear that cancer may return
time to let go of feelings of inadequacy
time to let go of the past

We are not on this planet at this time for no reason
for these are the *magical times*

whispered the ~Moon~ to me

Let your Heart wish upon the Stars
sang the ~Halo~

for these are the Times of setting your Spirit

A Ring Around The Moon

The ring around the Moon is caused by the refraction of Moonlight (which of course is reflected sunlight) from ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. The shape of the ice crystals results in a focusing of the light into a ring. Since the ice crystals typically have the same shape, namely a hexagonal shape, the Moon ring is almost always the same size.

Less typical are the halos that may be produced by different angles in the crystals. They can create halos with an angle of 46 degrees.

Moon Ring Weather Folklore
Folklore has it that a ring around the moon signifies bad weather is coming, and in many cases this may be true. So how can rings around the moon be a predictor of weather to come? The ice crystals that cover the halo signify high altitude, thin cirrus clouds that normally precede a warm front by one or two days. Typically, a warm front will be associated with a low pressure system which is commonly referred to as a storm.

It is believed that the number of stars within a moon halo indicate the number days before bad weather will arrive.

(NB) There was one star and bad weather predicted for tomorrow Lol!
