On a wet wintery day...

a ~DoLLy is born~

This dolly started to evolve
while i was listening to Lucy English
read her poetry out loud
on the radio...

and i decided to blog this pic before
this dolly was finished
because sometimes i actually like my dollies
more at this stage...
while they still have a rawness about them
a nakedness, a kind of realness almost...

i enjoy the process of dolly birth
i like thinking about how they have come to be
who they are becoming
they seem to have a life of their own
sometimes
as they are pieced together
in their own individual way...

this dolly has been stuffed with the filling from an old cushion
i don't usually do that, but i've run out of stuffing today
and she was just so determiined
to be born
on this cold wet day...
in the cast offs of recycled jumpers

this dolly has a quiet confidence about her
i think...
a sort of braveness perhaps?
she seems to have secrets
hidden behind that innocent smile of hers

i wonder what color her eyes will turn out to be?

X;-)

All your girls are gorgeous, Vicki. What colour is she telling you for her eyes? I am seeing a warm brown - tawny like a tiger eye. :D

She looks like she has a story to tell. Do you ever write poems or messages down and put them inside your dollies?

i ~Love~ that idea Rachel...
As if they then have a ~heart~

Your dolly reminds me of me, in every way...including the red hair. ;)

I love her look, and the fact that she had to be born on this very day NO MATTER WHAT. :)

My mother-in-law had a collection of dollies. She knitted clothes for them with at least one heart shaped pocket. In that pocket she always wrote a spirit letter about the dolly. When the grandchildren come to visit they love to read the spirit notes. Rachel W. that is such an excellent idea for Nollyposh! xoxo
