...and yes it did all start with a squeal from the backyard
when Lara's cartwheeling went all wrong!!!
We then spent 3 hours in emergency at our local hospital
and when the doc on duty saw her xray results, he upgraded her rating and commented that she must be made of 'tougher stuff' (ie) No screaming and tears! Because her break was nasty (in 2 places) and the top of her radius bone was dislocated
awwwwwh.... But she kept on ~smiling~

So he booked her into another hospital
where there was an Orthopedic surgeon...
Remembering that we (here in Australia)
are in the middle of Christmas holiday time...
when hospital theatre time is limited and many are closed
So on that first night the children's ward was completely emptied of patients
because only 1 of their 8 operating theatre's was in service...
But Lara was kept on as the ONLY child in the entire children's ward!!!
The attending surgeon on duty decided to keep Lara for the following night's surgery list
(When others were put off!?!) As he said he didn't want her to lose her bed...
(Remembering that we were in a public hospital system)... Luck???
Hmmmm... i wonder...

So of course she then had ~special~ attention!
(Although i am certain that this is how all the children are always treated)
when the girls from the Starlight foundation dropped by
and gave her a Bratz doll AND Tamagotchi (!!!)
They cheered up her room with balloons and her arm with face paint
and she had a ball on the activity centre (above)
that was a game cube, computer games, DVD's and music all rolled into one
There was also free telly with 'Fox' so it really was ~Kids world~

When Patrick came in for a visit he brought with him some ~special~ gifts from the mailbox
~Thankyou so much~ SweetMango and the lovely Sydney for your thoughtfulness *kissez*
Sydney sent some beautiful music and see Sweetmango's gorgeous painting below...

Here (below) is a photo of Lara straight out of surgery (!!!)
Thus the anesthetic grin (Lol!) With her FAVORITE nurse
~Imogen~
The sweetest and loveliest and friendliest nurse eva!

And then if that wasn't enough
some student doctors came by...

To CHEER her up some more!!!
apparently part of their training involves getting involved with the kids ward
and ~playing~ (Very "Patch Adams" like: Note the movie poster on the wall!)

So they sang her a song and taught her to dance ~Brazilian style~
and what i found ~amazing~ was the fact that on this particular day
Lara was feeling quite low with a fever and a little ~sad~
But just look at that dancing girl... *magic*

and as they wheeled our ~smiling~ Lara from surgery
one of the docs laid his hand on my shoulder and Thanked mE (!!!)
for the ~beautiful and amazing~ little Lara
*tears*
My heart nearly burst with ~love~
So i write this entry today
with my heart full of ~thanks and gratitude~
for ALL the ~Angels~ sent to Lara
to YOU all (Yes YOU!) who sent a prayer and a ~hug~
for Angels are ye tOO X:-)

Our little Lara...
So Blessed are we xox

Aren't those docs the best! You just can't beat the "Patch" style of doctoring...it should always be like that! That made me feel great :)
Yay Lara, so glad to see you up and about...you are looking fabulous and as beautiful as ever!
xxsm
How wonderful is the invention called the camera -- not to mention the miracle called BLOGSPOT/the internet! I felt like I was right there with you all, every step of the way. You guys had the best time there. Wish all hospitals were as fun. Though I suspect your aura somehow inspires or creates a party or some kind of love huddle everywhere you go.
That crazy grin Laura does in so many pictures is one of a kind. I can't believe she did it right out of anesthesia too! Give her a high five for me --- um, the good arm please!
YaY! so glad to hear the worst is behind her. Happy healing Lara! xoxoxo
