MeeeeeeLtiiiiiing....

OmgOOdness! You won't believe this...
but our ROADS are actually MELTING!!!
...the road by our local Primary school
had to have stones laid to combat it X:-o!

School start for the new year has even been delayed
at my eldest's college ...and due to a fire...
the primary school camp may have to be delayed...

Now THAT's HOT!!!

... It's 7pm and my inside thermometer reading is 37 Celsius!
That's 99 Fahrenheit IN THE SHADE!!!...

...in the EVENING!!! (Sorry, i know, i'm shouting)

Last night my little friendly neigbourhOOd Possum
could even be convinced to practically feed from my hand!
So powerful was his little thirst for some juicy apple...

Awwwwh isn't he cute!?!

*Update note (9pm): Our state has just had a major power outage (failure)
Hmmm wonder what the ~message~ in all this is?
It's certainly pushing everyone's buttons...
Sitting in puddles of our own sweat, people trapped in lifts...
public transport out... Unable to rely on our usual luxuries...
Hmmmm... Forced to rely upon our 'human' resources
...and each other...

Methinks that perhaps THe UnIvErsE ~speaks~

???

Now if we all had solar power...

Vicki, keep that little furry guy hydrated...I had another friend in Melbourne tell me today that one of her friends rang to say that it is so hot that she has literally had possums fall dead out of the trees because of the heatwave.
Not one but several.
and I am not joking :(
Give that possum lots of hydration love like you have been...you are a possum angel :)
xxsm
P/S i think you guys are getting a slightly cooler day tomorrow...we are forecast for our 2nd 44C day in a row (122F)!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melbourne is breaking down slowly.. no trains, no power, and now melting roads.... I have to work in Taylors Lakes tomorrow and I don't know if you know that area but there are NO TREES, NO HILLS and all that equals NO SHADE....my car will melt by the time I finish my shift. I actually saw a fly drop dead - there it was flying toward me, then poof! dead!. it's now 10.10pm and there is a beautiful sea breeze outside, it's gorgeous.
I hope you are getting some relief

Oh how different it is on the other side of the world (!) It's freezing here and I'm sitting on the radiator!
Cute photos! Over here we feed the hedgehogs - cute in their own way...

Hi Vicki.. my heart goes out to you and everyone in Victoria suffering thru this heatwave. The power outages must be the last straw for so many, I hope things improve soon. I saw the bushfires on the news up here last night, and saw that Mirboo north in Gippsalnd was under threat. My Mum grew up there and I have spent many a quiet hour wondering thru the cemetary (as part of my family history research) and it has always been such a beauiful green peaceful place. I never imagined it would be affected in this way. Wishing you cool weather and happy days.
PS Thaanks for dropping by my blog :-)

I had no idea you all were suffering so in the heat down under. I am in Northeast Pennsylvania USA - It is so cold and snowy here that we have had a few days off school. Wish I could send you some of this frigid air!!! Many thanks for stopping in to visit Old Mossy Moon. It was lovely to see you. Your blog is impressive - I will visit again soon. *?*

Oh my dear goodness Vicki, this is awful! You know here, we have been experiencing severe cold. It's interesting to think that at both ends of the world, how there are extreme weathers right now. I totally agree with you when you say that the universe is speaking to us!

Keep cool and take care of those sweet little fur babies in your yard :(

Love You

I am thinking of you. We had that kind of heat here about 5 years ago. It is really hard.

I have heard that you have some relief coming, the temperature will drop to 35C! I hope it drops more than that.

Frightening stuff for sure. It is disgusting heat this summer. Good job with the animals, I was thinking of them last week here, and filled the toddler pool and left it for them to drink, wash etc.
Thanks for visiting, keep cool.xx
