On Saturday night Lara and i celebrated the Winter Solstice
along with our local community with a main street Lantern Parade...
We really enjoyed the community spirit
and i particularly loved the drifty feeling one gets
when floating along with lanterns on a chilly dark night

Lovely, lovely lantern parade!! To think, we're celebrating the summer solstice here now. I'm visiting too far south to really enjoy it this year; at home, we hardly have any night now, just a few hours of twilight. I love it that you are celebrating the winter solstice at the same time. Makes it all seem more real to me, that abstract concept of the reversed seasons.
I love the dreamy night fiestas too.

Winter Solstice in Canada is just a few days prior to Christmas, a wonderful time of year! It's usually when we are blessed with the first meaningful snowfall of the winter. Your lantern festival reminded me of all the lights we string outside at Christmas. What is your favourite memory of the festival?

and Linda i think my favorite thing about this lantern festival (apart from the lanterns!) is the bongo playing accompanying the singers, it seems to give the festival a medieval feel and i like that feeling of being connected with ancient ceremony's from the past x
