*Late alert

Today we had the hottest February day in Melbourne in recorded history...
46 Celsius that's Fahrenheit 115!!!
i kept saying to myself, that it's only one day, and we will be okay...
Then the fires started... They too are now said to be worse, than our recorded worst...
That's worse than Ash Wednesday (1983) AND Black Friday (1939)
Our power went out about 5pm and has just come back on
i send out a prayer to all those under threat
and pray that this now cool wind change does not fan the fires further
We have one quite close by and are waiting for more info...
the others closest are about an hour away...
Sirens have been going off, and there is smoke in the air
There is heat relief, but no one is smiling yet...
The latest news report says that in Victoria alone there are currently 40 fires burning
and there are also fires in NSW
X:-(

I am up too with the extreme heat ( NSW) although no bushfires near us. I am sending you love and prayers for calmer weather.

Did you hear Posh? They caught the KID (19 years old) who started one of the fires... he was a CFA volunteer who wanted to be called out so he thought he'd start a small fire... they're throwing the book at him. What an idiot!
We have one close to us, 2 suburbs away are on red alert and packed ready to evacuate. All I can smell is smoke, it's awful. All my prayers go out to these people. And I cried when I heard about the fire fighter who got burned to 50% of his body... it's just so darn depressing.

I'm not trying to be a one-upper, but in Arizona summers here where I live--115 degrees is a cool day--we usually spend a month or so in the 120's. I completely feel your pain---I know exactly how it feels---like the atmosphere air around you has turned into an entity of its own.

It's in the 70's (F) now-a-days here in the desert---I'm shipping some cooler weather over to you this second!!

Hang in there!

Peace & Love.

Oh my gosh Vicki -- I just got back from a week out of town and sat right down to start getting caught up. I'm reading yours first and this just sounds terrible. You described things so well, I feel like I'm there with you.

Connie -- I can't even imagine those temps --- and those I know who have lived in AZ always say: but it's DRY heat (meaning no humidity to make it more brutal) but so it is when I open the oven door to check on my cookies baking and scorch my face off!

Red Shoe, can you tell me what CFA is -- I should know this yes? I hope the book hits him in the head.

Please, all stay safe. keep us informed of how you are VIcki. All that smoke in the air isn't great, even if the fires stay away from your property.

Oh, my. We've been battling the freezing cold that has sparked house fires, as well. In this freezing clime, it's hard to imagine the devastation of heat.

I hope all will be well for you.

Darling Vicki
Oh that is too much. My prayers are going out to everyone. I have been through that years ago. We spent Christmas eve watching the fire burning out our bedroom window, wondering how close it would get.
much much love

Sydney - CFA stands for Country Fire Authority
All good here at the moment, we have rain and cool weather. I finally got thru to my friend in the hills 20 minutes away, her house is ONE of the THREE that were spared in that whole area, thank God. But another friend of mine has lost 5 people out of her friends and most of her family have been evacuated... I'm feeling very sick in the stomach Posh..
Just saw the news flash since writing the above 66 confirmed dead. I really want this to end NOW.

Vicki, I am sorry to hear that you have cancer too.

I am so worried about my friends over there in the heat and that includes you and your family.

Okay God, let some of this cold wind from Canada get over there and cool you all down.

kisses xxx and hugs ooo

Love Renee
