(an old world war 2 air raid siren)

and i held my breath...

and ran outside...

and as i looked skywards to where the blue normally was...
my breath was caught in my throat
and my knees shook with fright at the sight
of the closeness of 'Terror' !

As my husband drove home from work
and my children were gathered from their various schools
my mind began reeling...
Just what do you take with you...
when 'terror' pays a visit to your door?

Just your lives and your memories...

my heart said to my head...

i know the drill

said my head to my heart

~There is nothing else~
...whispered the ghosts so soon passed
*Our fire plan has always been to leave as soon as we can
and so we did and stayed last night with my mum
and our photos... by the sea...
We are okay X:-)
and home again today, with the authorities saying that the fire is ~contained~
Friday is another hot one...
i am keeping my children home from school
we are in waiting...
for Mother Nature's ~Grace~
(Ps) and lOOk at what 'The Universe' sent to me today
and sent a ~tear~ to my eye...
"I love dragonflies -
The Universe"
Hmmmm ~Angels~ a watching over me X:-)

I'm glad you're safe. How scary.
Yes I have had my photo's in a suitcase by the door for the last month. Can't bring myself to move it
How scary...your post moved me..how often we hear this kind of thing on the news and hardly give it a passing thought, then, you get it from the perspective of the person on the ground, having the experience and bam..it resets your sensitivity meter and you remember, this is real, it's happening to real humans. A passing thought isn't really enough. Thank you for sharing

Gosh Vicki -- those pictures ARE frightening! I'm late to this as I've been in a seminar for two days with night work, and two more to go...
Does this kind of thing happen often? I thought the fires were over... is this a different one or the tail end of the ones from a few weeks ago? I bet you are ready for a nice break.
So glad you're safe and back home!
Oh Vicki, I have total chills...how horrifying. I'm so happy you and your family are safe.. I'm keeping you all in my heart.
Peace & Love.
Thankyou hunnies *kissez*
(Ps) Sydney, No this is a new one started up in a parkland not far from my home (and Lara's school) that we call Birdsland... Today we were told that it is contained YeY!!! High temps again on Friday though and our real prob is the dried out National forest nearby too sighhh... Roll on Winter!!!
Nolly - I have some friends in Australia - I know it is scary right now - I live by a park full of old and dead trees which died from a flood two years ago - but this past year has had little rain - I worry about fires.
keep safe and be ready always
HI Vicki, The fires this summer have been horrendous! I hope all goes well for you on friday. My heart and thoughts are with you and your neighbours.
I remember my mum ringing me once when we had fires near us, and she made me promise I would get out quickly with my babies and not try to fight it. She said"If I turn on that TV and see you standing on your roof with a hose, I am not going to be happy".
Luckily, I never had to get out.
Stay safe....
Thankyou <3 Judy & Jenni <3 i'm holding my breath again!
Vicki,
Here's hoping that the terror subsides and that you continue to stay safe.
Hope all is well Vicki. I'm late getting in on this since my computer was in the shop. Hope all is well now and you're safe and sound wherever you are. Thinking of you and your family. julie.
*Thankyou* Big Frank & Julie x
