~Sounds of Silence~

Today there is smoke haze
and an eerie yellow light
there is a heaviness in the air
that you can literally taste...
there is an abnormal silence
and lack of noisy chatty birds
because there's a fire not far away
...they say

But i think that it's more than that...

It's a palpable, collective sadness
that has stained the sky
and the bitterness of tears on our tongues
and the silence of Mother Nature holding her breath
...that deafens us

Because we are all waiting for salvation...

But not just from the fires
