Lets take a walk...

To my VERY mOsT favorite place...

this (above) is Paul and Deena (with Paul below)
and they are a part of the friendly crew
who cheerfully watch over my very most favorite place
called:

the MORNINGTON ANTIQUE CENTRE
65 Tyabb Road Mornington
Victoria, AussyLand X:-)
(OPEN 7 days 10.00 - 5.00pm)

Paul is one of the guys you will meet at the door
behind the huge sprawling counter
who will tell you the tales of this *magical* place
if you ask...
He has tales of history and the quirkiness of customers
and much, much more, i'm sure, if you can tear yourself away from the ~hunt~
long enough to listen!

...and the lovely Deena who has the most sweet singing voice
that you will often hear softly echoing
from the shadows, of this my most favorite place
as she goes about her daily business of keeping things tidy...

Although quite frankly, just between you and me
my most favorite thing...
about this my most favorite place...
is the shadows, the whispers from the past
the doves cooing high up in the rafters
and the fine layer of ancient ~dust~

The building is HUGE and was in it's hey day, a carpet factory
complete with vast spaces and 10 meter ceilings
and windows so high up that the sunshine struggles to reach the floor
There's the old 'BOSS' station positioned high above the long gone crew
(pic above) with stairs painted my most favorite 'shabby' green
and you can hear, if you close your eyes
and listen hard enough
the faraway clunk and clatter of busy machinery
and the old factory whistle as it goes off to signal 'smoko'
all but a dusty memory now
from ghosts long gone from this place...

For now this space is full of other ghosts
lingering among the many treasures to be found here from the past...
still attached to the objects of their hearts perhaps

Now this is the dreaming ground for the fossicker of the past
the land for the treasure hunter of lost memories...

Jewellery and clothes
furniture and toys
books and cards
quilts and boats
fireplaces and paint chipped chairs
old doll houses and swap cards

All that you can imagine...
the restored and recreated
the rusty and dusty
the faded and forgotten
and what tugged my heart most this visit
(For no one visit is ever the same)
was the photo's...
the boxes of family history
full of faces quietly staring at me through the tunnels of time

So many boxes scattered amongst the mayhem
show casing the flotsam and jetsam of life's never ending tide

The majestic, the small
the neat, the untidy
lined up, boxed up
and sometimes hidden in the shadows
among the lane-ways and corridors
are these echoing memories...

My Aladdin's cave
it is my hearts joy to discover and to explore
the many treasures hidden beneath the dust of this magical place
this wonderful dream scape
this dreamtime of memories
these buried stories of the past

This most marvelous space is true *bliss*
for the ~dreamer~ and the wanderer
the harbor-er, the re-liver of ~dreams~
the romantic at heart

and because i am such a lover of the ~shabby and the chic~
i will give you a closer view of my most favorite stall...
(isle 1, up the end)

and for the rest
the secrets yet to unfold
well this ...
you will have to discover for yourself

Oh Nolly Posh, that is AWESOME! I love that you took us on a tour of your most favorite place. As you were describing it, I could feel, smell, hear the life, both past and present, in the building. I would wonder through a store like this with a big old cup of coffee, and would be most drawn to the photos. I have to admit, your favorite aisle caused a bit of a "stress" reaction in me - I like things neat and orderely! Still and all, this was lovely - thank you for sharing.

Oh that was great to go shopping with you. Let's do it again! I had fun clicking on all the pictures to enlarge. I bough the large white square pillow that's sitting on the floor in the last or second to last picture and the blue and while little quilt that is folded over something above the pillow in the same picture. What did you get?
