DoLLie creatING proCeSS...

the ~NoLLy PoSH~ way

Draw a dollie on cardboard so when tracing
this will also be the sewing line...
Remember her head doesn't have to be round, square is good too
and you could just have rectangle for the whole body AND head

Next join the fabric for the body and head
and trace on the outline...

Sew along the lines...
cut around leaving a 1cm or so edge
to 'snip' at 1cm intervals (for fabric 'give')
then turn through (using a straw and blunt 'poking' stick)

organize your layout

base paint her face...

fill in the details...

...plonk on her hair
and her arms & legs

play around with ribbons and buttons...

and there you have your ~DoLLieS~

Be sure to send me a pic when you finish ~yours~

X:-)

Vicky, your dollies are adorable! I am especially partial to mademoiselle blue haired girl! You make it look so easy! I am going to give it a go, but I do so with a certain amount of "non-artistic" trepidation! Wish me luck!

Oh, I'm inspired to break out the sewing machine. First I must look for scrap fabric. What a great craft for me and the kiddos!

They are beautiful!

Ooh, and if you put another bit on the bottom, she could have a flat bottom to sit on.

Lovely dollies. :)

I made a few beaded dollies. Have I ever shown you? I will have to search my old posts.

They are gorgeous, Nolly and full of personality! Do you sell them or give them away? I'm sure lots of little - and not so little - girls would love one!

So that's how it's done! It almost looks easy. Not that I would attempt it in a million years!

They're adorable. When my children were young (oh, and I was, too), I used to make such delights. My daughter still has a 3 feet tall Raggedy Ann doll and one small stuffed doll with her name embroidered on the dress. Thanks for reminding me that people still do such lovely work.

How wonderful to see this step by step process... I am late commenting on this because I've been doing homework homework homework and have not been visiting many blogs (trying to catch up though I should still be doing homework, lol).

Can you tell me what you stuff the bodies and arms/legs with? IT looks so smooth -- no lumps. And that is a trick for those skinny arms and legs.... for them, do you use some kind of something to poke the stuffing way down to the bottom of those little fabric tubes?

I can't sew to save my life but I intend to learn the basics when I retire, lol....

Thanks Sydney, What i may do is a little instruction/dollie tips post, as it would be easier to explain with pics X:-)
